The Quilotoa Lagoon excursion lasts approximately 11 hours. It departs early in the morning from Quito and returns in the afternoon. During this time, visitors can enjoy panoramic views, learn about the local culture, and explore the surrounding area. It's a comprehensive tour that offers ample time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and participate in the scheduled activities.

The best time to visit Quilotoa Lagoon is during the dry season, between June and September, when weather conditions are more stable and there is less chance of rain. During these months, clear skies allow for more spectacular views. However, the weather in the Ecuadorian Andes can be unpredictable, so it is recommended to be prepared for unexpected changes in the weather and bring appropriate clothing for layers.

While the hike around Quilotoa Lagoon isn't extremely difficult, it's located at a considerable altitude, so moderate fitness is recommended. The descent to the lagoon is steep, and the return climb can be challenging due to the lack of oxygen at high altitudes. It's advisable to walk at a comfortable pace, carry water, and take short breaks to acclimatize, especially for those unfamiliar with the altitude.

To visit Quilotoa Lagoon, it is recommended to wear comfortable and warm clothing due to the low temperatures at altitude. Wear several layers of clothing to adapt to temperature changes throughout the day. A waterproof coat is ideal in case of rain. Footwear should be sturdy and have good grip, such as hiking boots, to ensure stability on uneven trails. Also, bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself from UV rays, which are more intense at altitude.
